These qualifications will help you develop your underpinning knowledge and work skills you require to competently work towards or carry out the role of Assistant Youth Support Worker at Level 2.
Once you have completed your studies, you will have an industry-recognised qualification, and you will be able to confidently support the personal and social education of young people in paid employment or working as part of the voluntary sector in the UK.
Learners who achieve the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice may wish to complete additional units to obtain the Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice.
You may also consider progressing onto the Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Youth Work Practice or go further, by joining one of our Management and Leadership courses, or the various higher-level qualifications available nationally.
The SEG Awards ABC Level 2 Award and Certificate in Youth Work Practice, has been developed by industry experts including the National Youth Agency and the ETS of England and Wales. This qualification embraces the National Occupational Standards for youth work and is JNC recognised with endorsement by ETSEngland and Wales.
It supports the skills, and knowledge learners need to become a competent Assistant Youth Support Worker. Learners will complete this qualification with a concrete understanding and practical experience of the following:
Assessment for each level will be through the completion of a digital e-portfolio of evidence, workbook study tasks, evaluation of learning and workplace observations. (Workplace observations not required for Level 2 Award).
There may be opportunities for funding, subject to conditions. If you are employed and working over 21 hours, your course can be 95% funded through our level 2 and level 3 apprenticeship pathways, if available.
If you are 19+ unemployed or earning below £20,962 (inner London) or £17,004 (outer London) and it’s your first level 2 qualification, you may be eligible for full funding.
If you are not eligible, please talk to us about payment plans, to spread the cost of your training. A deposit will be required.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you must be aged over 18 and either employed or have regular access to a youth work environment.If you are taking the Level 2 Award there is no need for a youth work placement.
We recommend that you have a good command of literacy and numeracy before enrolling on these courses. We can provide support for this through our programme of online and classroom study for English, Maths and ICT.
You need to be regularly working directly with young people between the ages of 11 to 25 and have the support of an organisation throughout your study.
All new entrants to the youth work sector must be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; you can not start studying until you have proof of this.
