Course Aims

The aim of the SEG Awards Level 4 Certificate in Professional Development (Youth Work) qualification is to enable you to increase your Youth Work skills and knowledge to a higher level and enhance your professional development.

The qualification focuses on the importance of professional development and forging effective relationships in Youth Work.

Qualification Objective

A minimum of 10 credits must be achieved at Level 4. If additional units are achieved at Level 4 or 5 beyond the requirement of this qualification’s rule of combination, the additional named units will appear on the learner’s qualification transcript.
You may also consider progressing onto other Level 5 Diploma programmes or go further, by joining one of our Management and Leadership courses, or the new higher-level 6 degree qualifications available nationally.

About the Qualification

The SEG Awards Level 4 Certificate in Professional Development (Youth Work) qualification has been developed in collaboration with the NYA and ETS (England and Wales) for individuals working in a Youth Work environment. The units contained within this qualification enables progression within the sector, provides a stimulating and supportive environment to grow professionally, and improves job prospects by formalising professional skills, development, and training.

  • Course Length

    4 – 6 full teaching days (or 8 – 12 Micro Teaching Sessions)
    Assessment for each level will be through the completion of a digital e-portfolio of evidence, workbook study tasks, evaluation of learning and workplace observations.

  • Eligibility

    Learners should be over the age of 19 at the time of commencing the qualification and hold a formal Level 3 qualification, either in Youth Work or within your own discipline area. Due to the level of this qualification, it is recommended that you have English Skills to at least GCSE Level or Level 2 equivalent.
